The longtime couple gave PEOPLE a behind-the-scenes look at how theFerraristar, 57, got ready ahead of his beachy cover shoot, with Jillian, a makeup artist who has aneponymous line of clean beauty products, walking us through the glam process.
Jillian first focused her attention on Patrick’s skin, applying a pair of eye masks infused with a hydrating prebiotic serum.
She then rubbed a moisturizer into his neck and ears before amping up his complexion with her brand’s24K vibrating Gold Bar tool, the name itself earning a mischievous grin and side eye from Patrick, to which Jillian teasingly shut down.
According to the pro, the tool is essentially “a gua sha on steroids” that helps sculpt and firm the skin.
Next up: styling Patrick’s dreamy hair.
“I’ve been working on Patrick’s hair for decades,” Jillian said in the clip before forecasting the state of his locks. “Today we’re gonna have a good hair day. I just know when his hair is happy and today his hair is happy,” she added. Patrick agreed, “So happy!”
To control her husband’s luscious hair, which she revealed “has a life of its own,” Jillian expertly applied herRoadie pomadethroughout.

The Dempseys first met in 1994, when Patrick was a client at Jillian’s then-hair salon, but they did not start dating until three years later.
“I went in where she was working, and I looked across the room at her and was blown away,” he told PEOPLE. The two wed on July 31, 1999.
TheGrey’s Anatomyalum said it was a fateful trip from Maine to New York that made him realize he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
“She was pretty game for the road trip so I thought that was good,” he recalled. “I love the cold and rain and she loves the sun and beach. We’re complete opposites and I have to say, she’ll make me do s— I never want to do and nine times out of 10, she’s absolutely correct. So she puts up with me.”

Jillian, in turn, is also proud of her husband’s many achievements, including his new PEOPLE title. Patrick revealed that she wasquite “shocked”over the appointment, but she’s gushed over his new milestone nonetheless.

And she’s even making merchandise to commemorate the news. “We may torture you a bit around the house about this one —already making t-shirts. Congrats!” Jillian wrote alongside Patrick’s cover photos.
