Sydney Sweeneybought back her family legacy.
TheEuphoriastar, 26, revealed onThe Kelly Clarkson Showthat one of her accomplishments after finding success in Hollywood was being able to purchase her great-grandma’s house, which her family had been forced to sell after financial struggles.
“My great-grandma had this beautiful house, two bedroom, cute house that they lived in,” Sweeney told hostKelly Clarkson.
“Mygrandmawas born in it. My mom was born in it, and then as the kids got older, they built on the property another home,” she continued, “And when my great-grandpa passed away and my great-grandma got old they just couldn’t afford to keep it anymore.”
“Yeah, the upkeep,” Clarkson added, to which Sweeney responded, “Yeah, it was a lot.”
However, Sweeney’s been raking in several roles lately, including a leading role in rom-comAnyone But YouoppositeGlen Powell, slated to release on Dec. 22. She’s also gearing up to star in the filmsMadame WebandNational Anthem. The money she has made as a result of taking on this work was enough to re-purchase the home.
“Last year I called up [the realty company], and I said I want to buy my great-grandmother’s house back,” Sweeney revealed.

“And it’s really cool too, my granny still lives in the house next door,” she added. “So, I’m neighbors with my granny now.”
The actress previously opened up about her family’s financial struggles in an interview withWomen’s Healthlast month, saying that her family sacrificed a lot for her to be able to do what she loves.
“I watched my parents lose a lot. We filed for bankruptcy, and they lost their house back home on the lake,” she said, referring to the home at the time. “We couldn’t afford life in L.A. We couldn’t afford life anywhere.”

This has built up the star’s work ethic, and as she toldThe Hollywood Reporterin July, the need to fund her life in L.A., where she recently also purchased a home, has also kept her going.
“If I wanted to take a six-month break,I don’t have income to cover that,” she told the magazine. “I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help.”
Sweeney said she has also had to take on various brand deals. “If I just acted, I wouldn’t be able to afford my life in L.A.” she explained toThe Hollywood Reporter. “I take deals because I have to.”
