Queen Elizabethhas suffered more heartache — Fergus, one of two new puppies given to her while her late husbandPrince Philipwas in the hospital, has died.
“It’s all very sad,” a royal insider tells PEOPLE of the news of the death of Fergus.
Fergus is thought to have been a dorgi (a corgi crossed with adachshund), and was named after the Queen’s late uncle Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who died during World War I in 1915. The other dog is named was Muick after a favorite spot near Balmoral Castle.

It was thought that shedidn’t want to have any more dogs– in part because it risked her tripping over one of the pets and also because she didn’t want to leave any young dogs behind.
