In a video shared toInstagram, user Khail Anonymous shares his experience staying overnight at the Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada.
“Why did I go ALONE??” he captions the Reel, which begins with a shot of the hotel room door — decorated with a colorful illustration of what appears to be Pennywise, the toothed clown made famous in Stephen King’sIt.
“I rented a room at a haunted clown motel and I have an additional surprise,” he says in a voiceover.
Inside the room, another even larger painting of Pennywise is displayed on the wall, along with framed portraits of other clowns.

The additional surprise, he then says, is a meter to measure paranormal activity.
“The motel lets you rent an EMF reader so you can kind of go ghost-hunting,” he says in the video. “So I’m going to wait until it gets dark and then go do that.”

The video also shows what’s next door to the motel — a graveyard complete with rows of headstones.
“There’s also a graveyard next door. I forgot to mention that, Oh, whoops,” he says in the video.
Once night falls, he then gives followers a look at the EMF reader. a meter that measures electromagnetic fields and is often used to “hunt” for ghosts.
“All right, let’s do this,” he says, as he turns the EMF reader on.
“I keep looking back, as if someone’s watching me. This is not my thing — I hope you guys don’t like this [because] this is a one-time thing, for sure,” he tells followers.
In a voiceover, he says he spent “about half-an-hour” using the EMF reader, which elicited “several high readings,” but “mostly just apologized to the ghosts.”
He then left his camera on overnight, “so we can see if anything happens,” before choosing between one of two beds in the room — “the one that’s closest to the door, or the bed that’s closest to Pennywise,” he says, gesturing toward the oversized mural of the clown on the wall.
Ultimately, he chose the bed nearest to Pennywise.
“Goodnight, enormous skeleton head,” he tells a large prop on the bed beside him before laying down.

Overnight, he says, nothing interesting was captured on camera and he seemingly slept okay, spending the next morning checking out the hotel’s “collection of clown stuff,” which was both “creepy and not — mostly creepy.”
“But I left knowing that I was just done with clown stuff — almost,” he adds at the end of the video, while a “to be continued” text display on the screen.
