We know that Alfred calling his employer , foster Word , and the recipient of his wisdom , “ Master Bruce , ” is incredibly old - fashioned . But what did the term “ Master ” mean value , before it became obsolete ?
Master comes from the term maegester , have in mind “ one having ascendance or authority . ” So , in the beginning , “ headmaster ” moderately much meant “ knob . ” Over time , though , “ mister ” replaced “ master , ” and “ master ” fell out of favor for most group of people . By the metre they go out in society , adult men should be call “ Mister , ” not “ Master . ” When someone call a grownup man “ Master , ” it ’s an indication that they see him as a kid – an upper course of study Thomas Kyd , but still a kid . So the fact that Alfred never stops calling Bruce “ Master Bruce , ” is either insulting , or shows that he find paternal towards the big humankind who dresses as a at-bat and go around recoil the great unwashed in the face .
