While the foray was not considered successful in regards to damage caused to Japanese infrastructure , it was a smal psychological triumph for the United States . Only month earlier the Japanese had had Pearl Harbor and American team spirit was low , and this raid proved in effect at showing the citizenry that Japan was not invincible .
