We lately deplore the possible shelving of Minority Report writerScott Frank‘s super darkPlanet of the Apesreboot , to be call Caesar . But Fox may have vary its mind about this Ape origins story .
Vultureis reporting thatPeter Cherninhas stepped up as manufacturer in the wake of the online intelligence that Frank had left the project . The studio apartment has now hired a new writer , Jamie Moss , writer of Street king .
The original tar was to tell the story of the copycat uprising principal by the ape Caesar , who communicates via sign language . Vulture described it like this :

[ It ] showed how genetic experiments on apes led to their evolutionary occultation of humans . ‘ Caesar ’ refer to the genetically neutered leader of the simian rebellion , so dubbed because the ape was subject of opulent strategic thought process on par with Julius Caesar . The ‘ Caesar ’ codification name also foreshadowed the script ’s game : Like the existent Julius Caesar , the ape begins a ( look for it … ) guerrilla war and emerges the emperor moth of the known world .
But Fox called this seemingly - ingenious idea too dark , pull Frank out and now has new writers make over his original piece . While we ’re exceptionally nervous about Chernin taking on this authoritative franchise , one thing he has going for him is a passionate love for talking ape . In fact , in 1992 , while the head of Focus Film Entertainment , he hired Oliver Stone to administrator produce a income tax return of the Apes … that would star Arnold Schwarzenegger . So yeah , at least he ’s passionate about the story , if not more or less misguided . But then again Arnold could n’t have been half as bad as Mark Wahlberg .
So the good news is more planet of the Apes , the sorry news we really like Frank ’s dismal science premise . Let ’s hope they do n’t lighten it up too much .
