scientist in the UK have believe differently about touchpad plan : their system glance at your fingertip to see what you ’re touching . It can sense when you ’re pushing on something and how hard , so everything — even a 3D uneven Earth’s surface — could be made into a touchpad . Quite why they chose to exhibit this with a purring rock we ’re not sure . But we like it .
Apparently the team from Nottingham establish it fairly easy to image the blood movement underneath your fingernail as you fight on something , so their camera tracks these change and works out whether you ’re touching an objective and with what insistence . Try it out yourself : it ’s clean sluttish to descry the people of color moving around beneath your nail .
Since the system does n’t need complex touchpad technology , it ’s pretty childlike and cheap to produce . Good for tactile museum showing call back the science team ; good for whacky game console controllers think I. There ’s just one flaw : nail polish can confuse the tv camera , so nude nail it is .
