Over the weekend , the New York Timesreported thatHegseth had been involve in yet another texting scandal involving the encrypted natter app Signal . Then , on Monday , NPRreported thatthe administration was looking to replace Hegseth . However , not long after the public broadcaster ’s fib was print , the White House denied and denounce the report .
NPR writes that an anon. source , described only as a U.S. official , had say that the White House had “ begun the process of bet for a new secretaire of defence . ”

While the judicature is sticking by Hegseth ’s side ( at least in public ) , there are other unfavourable signs for the embattled defense lawyers escritoire . Republican lawgiver Don Bacon , of Nebraska , break ranks on Monday and became the first GOP legislator to suggest that Hegseth might need to be fired , Politico report . Bacon , who lead a cyber subcommittee on the House Armed Services Committee , say that he had always thought Hegseth was a short greenish for the caper : “ I had concern from the get - go because Pete Hegseth did n’t have a lot of experience , ” Bacon tell the outlet . “ I like him on Fox . But does he have the experience to lead one of the largest organizations in the world ? That ’s a fear . ”

Hegseth used the encrypt app Signal to partake the operational details . On Sunday , the Times report that Hegseth had been involved in yet another Signal text chain . This time , Hegseth had reportedly shared detailed Yemen state of war plans with his buddy , wife , and personal lawyer . Gizmodo reached out to the White House for commentary .
Bacon went on : “ I ’m not going to tell the White House how to manage this … but I obtain it unacceptable , and I would n’t tolerate it if I was in charge . ” He add together that it “ looks like there ’s a meltdown go on ” inside the government . “ There ’s a deal — a lot — of smoke come out of the Pentagon , and I got to trust there ’s some fire there somewhere . ”
