When asked which superhero had his favourite stemma story , co - president of DC StudiosJames Gunnquickly went to one name : Batman . He also , however , made it pretty clear that as much ashe loves Batman ’s ancestry , perhaps its sentence on the swelled screenland is over . At least for a while .
Speaking at length on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast , Gunn was first asked about his favourite origin story in comics . “ Frankly Batman ’s story is dandy , ” Gunn said . “ And I care it when the robber does n’t get catch . It makes more good sense if the robber is always out there and that Batman ’s lookup for justness is an unquenchable hunting to right the wrongs of his childhood hurt that he ’ll never be able to do . I really love Batman ’s origin in terms of a simple story … [ it ’s ] the ultimate origin write up . ”
With admiration like that , you might expect Gunn — who along with partner Peter Safranis responsible for running DC Studios — would need to bring that descent to the fully grown screen . But , alas , he does not . “ I wo n’t promise [ that we ’ll never show it ] but I have no plans on it , ” Gunn said . “ I ’ll say that much . I have no plans . I am myself unhinged of see Superman and Batman and Spider - Man ’s [ origin ] . Those three . I ’m sick of seeing those three stemma stories and I do n’t postulate to see them again for a tenacious prison term . ”

But Gunn , being the fresh open - minded filmmaker he is , did tote up one more matter . “ But someone could come along and surprise me and do it in a way that ’s cool , ” he said . “ You just never know . ”
Being as we ’ve see theBatman origin on the big sieve through the optic ofTim Burton , Christopher Nolan , Zack Snyder , and Todd Phillips , it makes sense to get away from it for a bit . EvenHarley Quinnhad a twist lately . So , long before Gunn came on circuit card at DC , the idea of beginning narrative for those big reference had gone out of style . Now though , with this statement , we can pretty much be assuredThe Brave and the Bold , the upcoming Batman motion picture Gunn is bring on , wo n’t have it either .
