Aykroyd spoke toThe Hollywood Reporterin London at one of his Crystal Head Vodka promo events . Here ’s the relevant bits :
“ It ’s beyond just another subsequence , a prequel , another TV show . I ’m thinking what does the whole brand mean to Sony ? ” he said . “ What does Pixar and Star Wars mean to Disney ? What does Marvel mean to Fox ? ”
Aykroyd say that the intact Ghostbusters team — “ the executive , the creatives , Ivan [ Reitman , the film director ] and myself ” — were now looking at the next 10 years . …
He add that the focus must be “ not just another movie or another TV show , but what ’s the entireness of it ? The whole mythology from the beginning of their lives , the remnant of their life story . Ghostbusters at nine years old , Ghostbusters in gamy school . ”
“ Ghostbusters at nine years honest-to-goodness , Ghostbusters in gamy schooltime ” sound like one of the worst ideas I ’ve ever heard of , but I take some comforter in the fact that no one has been able to get a third Ghostbusters movie made in the last three decennary , let alone a tv set show titled Ghostbusters High School ( Louis Tully is the pathetic principal , of path ) . We do n’t know to vex about any of this yet , if we ever do . Basically , until Aykroyd reveals Ghostbusters entropy somewhere other than a location where he ’s also shilling his vodka , I say we just nod courteously and carry on .
