That ’s correct : galaxy sometimes bump into each other too , and when it materialize , they tend to cause a colossal commotion . That , at least , is the conclusion of a newstudypublished in the Astronomical Journal , which found that supermassive black cakehole emitting near - lighting speed streams of hot plasma and radio energy are the result of galactic mergers .
Most galax are believed to harbor a supermassive pitch-dark hole — a singular percentage point of mind - boggle denseness and gravitative force — at their center . In many ways , these SBHs swear out as cosmic lynchpin , guide the arena of everything else in their interstellar neighborhood . But despite SBHs ’ whack for swallow up subject and light , astronomer have observed a fistful of black gob streaming luminous jet of blistering blood plasma away from their centers at velocities approaching the f number of light .
