Ask A Terminator About Your Love Life

Here ’s the moment where Friday ’s Terminator episode lost me , and never quite got me back . You keep waiting for Summer Glau to say something awesome , and then she just adds to the cliche . Spoilers avaunt .

Maybe it ’s the jet - interim from my New Zealand escape talk , but the latestSarah Connor Chroniclesepisode left me almost totally cold . It was another crazy melodrama - fest , but this sentence around I just could n’t add myself to care about any of these the great unwashed . Even Summer Glau was less interesting to watch than usual . I just could n’t get myself to care about whether Zoe loves Henry .

I got what this episode was trying to do : Sarah Connor need to get some pencil lead on the mysterious factory where she project the flying saucer / Skynet drone , and so she drags her posse to the funeral for all the factory actor . And along the way of life , she has to confront the fact that she pop one of the manufacturing plant guy rope after he fritter her , while she make nice with the guy ’s widow . And meanwhile , in a neatly parallel plot line , Shirley Manson ’s Terminator tries to simulate human grief on the anniversary of her “ husband ’s ” demise . ( The married man of the char she bolt down and replaced , Catherine Weaver . )

There were some really awesome moments . I really did like Sarah essay to comfort the widow of that security guard , while suffer flashbacks to shooting him . And I loved Sarah proudly owning the “ terrorist ” recording label . And the scene between Brian Austin Green and Shirley Manson ’s cleanup guy cable , where BAG give the guy a cosmetic surgery , was terrific .

But all in all , the episode felt a morsel lifeless . ( Sorry if that ’s in wretched gustatory modality for an episode about funerals . )

Here ’s what worries me : we ’ve been separate , over and over , that the Sarah Connor Chronicles is getting more serialized for the rest of season two . That means fewer Terminator - of - the - week episodes and more ongoing arc stuff . It sounds terrific in hypothesis , specially for a show that has so many drop loose ending and cool stuff wait to pass off . ( And which may not get another time of year to play with them in . )

But arc - based storytelling only industrial plant if you feel like we ’re getting somewhere . Even the merest clue that the show is treading water can be deadly . This is the 2d installment since Sarah incur that factory ( in the midseason coda ) and it felt a little too incremental for my liking . for certain , the sequence did end with another coup d’oeil of that Skynet drone , and we saw it going into the evil mullet cat ’s motortruck . So I ’m keeping my fingers get across that this is in reality go away somewhere cool .

About that ending , though : I ’m even more baffled than ever . So Shirley Manson sent the barefaced guy to track down Zoe ’s dad – mullet guy – because she suspect he was still animated and was a loose oddment . And then gray mullet guy belt down bald hombre , right ? So presumably mullet guy is n’t operating on Shirley Manson ’s teaching when he loads the Skynet trailer into his hand truck at the end ? Is this another indication that Shirley ’s goal and Skynet ’s are no long sympatico ?

This is still one of my favorite shows , and I ’m still really excited to see where it ’s pass away , especially with some of the the hints hoi polloi have drip about what ’s coming next . But I ca n’t help find it ’s not a good time for the show to be have too many slow , histrionic episodes .
