My reply to this question depends very powerfully on what we have in mind by parallel universes . If we simply mean other population we can not access , I ascertain that very likely , as there is no reason this should not be the showcase . I ’m going to give the Annoying Professor answer and say it depend on what “ substantial ” way . Multiverse theoriser take that multiple population are the only explanation for puzzling phenomenon within our own — like the pressure of empty space , the sizing of the electron , the distribution of subject right after the Big Bang , or even the Big Bang itself . So “ parallel ” population are “ material ” in the sense that they solidify the stock model of cosmogony . They ’re mathematically actual . They ’re conceptually literal . But are they “ out there ” ? At this point , the question breaks down , because by definition , anything outside our cosmos lie down beyond observation and experiment — not to mention travelling .
