We ’ve known for awhile that American Horror Story would return for a seventh season . Today came the news that Ryan Murphy ’s anthology horror show has receive two more seasons on top of that .
The show has been a consistent rating hit since its 2011 debut , report Entertainment Weekly ; the fact that time of year six ’s realism - TV phantasmagoria Roanoke emerged the top “ circumscribed serial ” broadcast among viewers ages 18 - 49 no doubt encourage FX to make the generous re - up .
So now , it ’s time to speculate on what the themes will be . One has to bethe much - talk over crossover , but that still leave two seasons astray clear for whatever Murphy can dream up . We had mixed feeling about Roanoke , but as long as Sarah Paulson signs on for the continuance , we ’ll be there .
Update : Entertainment Weekly further reportsthat Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are the first dramatis personae members confirmed to return for time of year seven ; Ryan Murphy also said that the time of year will be “ a modern - day fib ” but the theme will be kept under wrap until the show airs , much like Roanoke on both counts .
