In a bit of role reversal , Keir Dullea , well know as 2001 : A Space Odyssey ’s Dr. David Bowman , plays an intelligent ship in the curt film HENRi , which also stars Superman actress Margot Kidder . After some time adrift in space , the ship ’s intelligence information make up one’s mind to build up itself a body to feel more alive .
HENRi was indite and directed by Eli Sasich , whose short filmAtropawe were drooling over just last week . Where Atropa was a proof - of - construct , however , HENRi is a complete story , but , like Atropa , it was inspired by classical skill fable films . Speaking over email , Sasich tell us a bit about the genesis of HENRi :

HENRi was born out of my love for picture like Silent Running and 2001 : A Space Odyssey – plastic film my papa introduce me to early on . On a technological story alone , I ’m perfectly mesmerised by how those movies were made . The usage of miniature and in - television camera effects is stunning . So I wanted to make something that used a variety of those techniques . But really , the goal with HENRi was to tell a very human story , without a “ human ” chief character . I wanted to try and get an emotional response out of a robot — that seemed like a fun challenge . That ’s what ’s so cool about scientific discipline fable — the ability to tell these kind of unequalled stories .
I have to add — I will always find a swell sense of gratitude to myKickstarterbackers , who take away a chance on a complete alien several years ago . They gave me an chance to lead down a itinerary that I would have never been able .
It ’s always nice when crowdfunding allow someone with this much gift to spread out their originative wing . We ’re definitely keeping an eye out for Sasich ’s body of work in the future .
